I’m looking to lease an apartment in Hong Kong. When should I start looking?

I get asked this all the time. I usually advise my clients to start looking about a month before their current lease expires. It’s just as possible to find a place with less than a month to spare, however if you’re more than a month away from starting a tenancy, often landlords can be hesitant to agree to a lease that far in advance. Not to say that it’s impossible but, generally speaking, particularly when it comes to negotiating on price, the further away you are from moving, the less bargaining power you can have.
