As a foreigner and non-permanent resident of Hong Kong, I’ve been told there is a special stamp duty of 15% to purchase a property in HK. Does this apply to all purchases or are there exemptions to paying this additional duty?

Some properties in HK are company owned properties. There may be instances where a foreigner can purchase the company owning the property. By transferring ownership of the company, foreigners and non permanent residents may be exempt from paying this additional stamp duty.
